The Digilent Genesys ZU is a standalone Zynq UltraScale+ EG MPSoC development board, designed to provide an ideal entry point by combining cost-effectiveness with powerful multimedia and network connectivity interfaces.
Everything needed for robust multimedia applications is already available on the board: DisplayPort connectors, two Pcam connectors, and an audio codec with four 3.5mm jacks. One can quickly get started with A/V, image processing, or other multimedia applications without needing additional hardware.
Working on other applications, or looking for more customizability? The Genesys ZU also offers four Pmod ports and an FMC LPC connector, which provide limitless expansion options. Additionally, the 1G Ethernet, MiniPCIE/mSATA, and USB 2.0 make Genesys ZU easily integrated with other systems. The Genesys ZU also features an on-board Zmod port for high-speed I/O expansion options.
The robust XCZU3EG MPSoC is supported by Vivado Design Suite, including the free WebPACK edition. For certain versions of Vivado, Xilinx's MIPI CSI-2 cores may not be supported by the free WebPACK edition, but a voucher for these IP cores is included with the Genesys ZU for no extra charge.

To create and modify designs for your Genesys ZU, you can use Xilinx's Vivado Design Suite. Vivado is a software designed for the synthesis and analysis of HDL designs. The Genesys ZU is supported by the free WebPACK edition of the Vivado Design Suite. A free voucher is also provided for access to Xilinx's MIPI CSI-2 cores.
You can use Xilinx's PetaLinux Tools to customize, build, and deploy Embedded Linux solutions on the Zynq UltraScale+. While the Vitis Unified Software Platform enables the development of embedded software and accelerated applications on heterogeneous Xilinx platforms, such as the Zynq UltraScale+.
