Overview

The Eclypse Z7 is specifically designed to enable the rapid prototyping and development of embedded measurement systems. Featuring high-speed Zmod ports for modular expansion and a Xilinx Zynq®-7020 SoC, the Eclypse Z7 is fast and flexible, reducing the time it takes for engineers and researchers to develop innovative and powerful new high-speed instrumentation, control, and measurement systems for edge-computing, medical, and communications applications.

Zmod Expansion

Zmod is Digilent’s expansion solution using the open-source SYZYGY standard from Opal Kelly. Faster than the Pmod Standard and more compact and cost-effective than FMC, Zmods improve the customizability options for high-speed I/O. Plug in your application specific Zmods and get up and running in hours or days, instead of weeks or months. Take a look at the Features tab for a list of compatible Zmods.

Development Environments

To create and modify designs for your Eclypse Z7, you can use Xilinx's Vivado Design Suite. Vivado is software designed for the synthesis, implementation, and analysis of HDL designs. The Eclypse Z7 is supported by the free WebPACK edition.

You can use Xilinx's PetaLinux Tools to customize, build, and deploy Embedded Linux solutions on the Zynq-7000.

Xilinx SDK enables development of embedded software applications targeting Xilinx SoC devices, such as the Zynq-7000.

Note: Xilinx software tools are not available for download in some countries. Prior to purchasing the Eclypse Z7, please check the supporting software's availability, as it is required for the board's use.

Example Designs

For those who want to get started without FPGA experience, Digilent provides several example designs using the Eclypse with C/C++, including both baremetal and Linux software applications, when used with the combination of Zmod Scope 1410-105 and Zmod AWG.

A hardware-only digital filter example that loops signals from a Zmod Scope through digital signal processing logic in the Zynq PL and back out through a Zmod AWG is also offered.

Additional information can be found on Digilent Reference, which can be found through the Support Materials tab.

Quickly find what you need to get started and reduce mean time to blink.

The Resource Center for the Eclypse Z7 is the central hub of technical content for the board and contains everything to get started and reduce mean time to blink. A very compact solution to the need for an integrated Digital and Mixed signal system. FPGA + 2CH DAC + 2CH ADC. An answer to my prayers. Coupled with the very helpful forum Digilent has create a very usable product. I have even been able to work with the ethernet port.
