The Pmod RF2 adds RF communication through the Microchip® MRF24J40 IEEE 802.15.4™ 2.4GHz RF transceiver module. By communicating with the device through SPI, users can transmit data at speeds up to 625 kbps through the ZigBee®, MiWi™, and MiWi P2P software stacks all available for download at the Microchip website: www.microchip.com/wireless.

    Not trivial. MiWi takes 20k space I read. It's not available for MPLABX and it's proprietary. You could probably get a simple beacon-enabled system running on less than 2k ROM for RFD and maybe twice that for PAN-coordinator FFD in a simple network. It's definitely worth getting two and a logic analyzer to explore the wireless network protocol. I could have never got it up without the logic analyzer. I don't see how printf's could do it. I
